Halloween on the Runway

So I was going to continue with the Fashion Week recaps today but looking through all of the costumes last week got me hooked on Halloween! I got so stuck on the fact that so many of today’s Halloween costumes are store bought… and for lack of a better word… slutty. Scott seems to have chosen to be as indecisive as me this year on couples themes, so instead of literally buying into the idea of a pre-made costume I searched for inspiration for my own. What better place to look than my own Pinterest Boards filled with fashion inspiration?!

This season (Spring & Summer 2015) we undoubtedly saw a cowgirls & Indians theme.

From Left to Right:

Ungaro, Etro, Felder Felder, Alberta Ferretti, Moschino,

I love the gladiator look, and there’s even some inspiration for the men too!… OR if you’re a ladies pair, I would absolutely love seeing this wedding couple!

More into the whimsy? Sea creatures galore!

To think this is the inspiration offered just this year, and it’s fairly tame considering what can come down the runway. What does occasionally find itself walking in the spotlight will certainly have you envisioning the most dazzlingly eerie ensembles for your Halloween attire!

I’ve included some of my personal favourites from years past, from murdered housewife or eye-catching skeleton to an oh-so-easy zombie, they fall right into the image of a traditional Halloween. I am also a firm believer that you can wear absolutely anything, but the second you wrap a black veil around your face you’ll have the instant gratification of being the creepiest (if not most stylish) spook around!

The Blonds A/W 13, Junya Watanabe A/W08, Vivienne Westwood A/W11, Iris Van Herpen A/W11

Alice Auaa did a phenominal show for A/W 2013 in Tokyo’s Fashion Week that had a particularly macabre theme to it. For those of you looking for some especially impactful spook inspiration I’ve included a link to check it out.

Fair Warning, it is creeee-py!

Should time and energy fall short I figured worst case scenario I can just always go as this guy.

Check back on Monday to see where all of this inspiration led to for tonight’s costume!

yupWhere did you pull your inspiration from for Halloween?
