New York Fashion Week Winter 2015 Recap

What a week! I can’t even imagine how people keep up while being there in person, even the online community is in such a whirlwind trying to keep up, and it’s not even the summer collections! I’ve finally found some time to put together some of my favourite highlights from the Autumn and Winter New York Fashion Week 2015!

Best Collections

Favourite Collections: (1)Reem Acra (Top)Sophie Theallet (Bottom)Sophie Theallet (4)VENEXIANA

I loved the Victorian/fantasy vibes of the Reem Acra collection, each dress was over the top and jaw-droppingly gorgeous! Venexiana’s collection followed suit, but what I really liked about Sophie Theallet was the mix of textures, materials, and patterns. Don’t get me wrong each piece was very nice but their construction was what really made me fall in love with the entire collection!

Best Show

Favourite Shows: (1) KTZ (Top)Nike Levi Kid’s Rock (Bottom)Nike Levi Kid’s Rock (4) FTL MODA KT (Top)Marc by Marc Jacobs (Bottom)Malan Breton

There were def. some stand out moments this season, my two absolute top runways based on presentation were KTZ & Nike Levi Kid’s Rock shows. KTZ, to be honest I didn’t really like the clothes themselves, but what I did like was the presentation and the way they incorporated the native inspiration into the line, keeping true to the native roots with additional small details to the overall collection. Nike Levi’s, omgosh! So! Much! Fun! These kids were having a blast and the energy was through the roof as kids danced and leaped their way down the runway! I really hope that little girl kept her runway selfie!

Best Pieces

Favourite Pieces: (1)Idan Cohen (2) Prabal Gurung (3)Corline Herrera

Some designers and their collections tend to stand out, but these are the individual pieces that really made the stage their own. I love the way the crystal work on the Idan Cohen dress seem to be placed directly on her skin and flow with the natural curves of her body. The cutouts make this Prabal Gurung jumpsuit not only business functional but sexy too! Last but not lease, Corline Herrera made an astounding dress that I just can’t get over! I personally could never wear it but I love how realistically is mimics rock & inspires thoughts of rocky shorelines while maintaining its glamour. To pull something like this dress off takes an amazing designer with true skill!

These were just a few of my favourites from this season in New York,
