Paris Haute Couture 2015

The Fashion Weeks are starting! The Fashion Weeks are starting!

I bet you can just imagine how excited I am! After my ‘break-in’ last season with all the major fashion weeks I am stoked! To make it even better, this week I got to breeze through my first official Haute Couture week, and needless to say it was the perfect start to get me back into ‘fashion mode’. I just wanted to share some of my favourite collections & looks to send a little style your way! Check out my Pinterest Board for a full look at all of my favourites!

Favourite Collections:

Valentino– I loved the traditional vibe from his collection, the deep reds, and the heavy materials that were used. It was comfortable & traditional with a whole lot of style! What I loved even more was the slow progression into a more modern style, with a light colour palette and airy materials. It was so natural and well done that you hardly even notice until you get that chill of excitement when you realize what just happened!

Valentino

Elie Saab– Easily the popular favourite. This entire collection was stunning & I’ve affectionately dubbed it the ‘Fledglings & Fairies’ collection with its patchwork of feathers & butterfly wing detailing. The second the last dress came out, the ‘fairy bride’, every phone, every camera was out and snapping pictures from every angle and didn’t stop until it was out of sight! It was a show stopper and I’d place bets that it will quickly become one of the brands most iconic pieces!

Elie Saab

If Elia Saab & Valentino were tied first place for my favourite collection then Georges Hobeika and Tony Ward are tied for second place! They made me think of a haute couture version of Kate Middleton, classic elegance with a twist! Adore!

Georges & Tony

Also worth a quick mention for you to check out; Laurence Xu and Zuhair Murad put together fantastic collections as well. I’d also like to note Jean Paul Gaultier’s collection, while it wasn’ t my favourite I found it had a very strong political message on gay marriage… it may have been unintentional and I may have been reading too strongly into it but it certainly made you think!

Favourite Pieces:

Fav Pieces

Ralph & Russo‘s lovely petal dress brings the excitement of spring with it & while the rest of their collection was gorgeous, this dress stood out!

Jean Paul Gaultier’s Bee Keeper Dress… can I wear this when I tour a bee farm over the summer?! Strongly reminded me of H by Hakaan Yildirim S/S15’s Bee Hive dress just by theme association.

Victor & Rolf, I can’t get over the country style in this outfit! Those hats… to die for! The necklines… always interesting & alternating! Colour… perfect pops! But what makes this dress stand out above it all is the ingenious way they incorporated line art to 2D printing and flowing into 3D. It is so beautifully done and such an original take!

Jantaminiau… a vintage cowgirl meets mermaid superhero?! This outfit is like all of my favourite things meshed into one, and I don’t know how they pulled it off but they did! I feel like this outfit is so familiar but has so much of its own unique twists that it’s absolutely captivating. A stand out piece that will always be remembered!

Overall I L-O-V-E-D the trend of pocketed dress, but I was a little surprised that a lot of these collections were so tame. I’m not sure if I was expecting lions and tigers and bears, but I was certainly expecting some sort of circus! I’m also surprised that Vivienne Westwood wasn’t apart of this show as her collections (from what I’ve seen so far) are absolutely wild! Nonetheless, I was completely enthralled with these designers and I simply can’t wait for the official fashion weeks to start!
